This was our third visit to Il Vigneto. This lovely villa is set down a narrow and bumpy winding lane in the middle of nowhere. The only passing traffic is a few farm vehicles and locals going about their daily business - and of course the sheep (and occasional goat) twice a day! The pictures and description are very accurate. The pool area is very sunny, although there are plenty of parasols and a pergola for those who can’t take too much heat. The villa is very well equipped with outdoor and indoor furniture and kitchen equipment and there is plenty of linen. There is a very informative folder at the villa giving details of all local amenities and contact numbers in case of emergency. The terrace at the front of the house is well shaded for lunch and dinner and having breakfast in the sunshine with the mountains as a backdrop is simply divine. The owners are very trusting and only ask that anything used from their larder is replaced upon leaving. The property was perfectly clean and well-maintained although, being so rural, one has to expect spiders, lizards, and the odd small scorpion to make their way into the villa at various times although we have never been particularly bothered by any of these.
The surrounding area is awesome – from the imposing mountains to the little vineyard in front of the villa. The village of Gualdo is a 10 minute drive and has a lovely café/bar. Sarnano is a little further the other way and has a couple of supermarkets, cafés, bakers, etc. I would recommend a visit to Ascoli Piceno - stunning town square - and Caffé Meletti is a must. If you like the beach then Porto San Giorgio is a pleasant hour’s drive and a place we enjoyed very much. The local Il Jolly restaurant is very good, but you do need some Italian as there are no menus – so listen carefully! The Pizzeria at Penna San Giovanni is also well worth a visit – wonderful pizzas and fantastic value. There are many other beautiful places to visit around – Amandola, Montemonaco, Sasso Tetto, San Ginesio to name just a few.
I would suggest that this villa is not ideal for those who are afraid of driving along farm tracks and is probably not suitable for disabled people.
I would thoroughly recommend this villa to anyone looking for a completely relaxing, quiet holiday although there is plenty to see if you like to go out exploring. However, I am in two minds about recommending this villa only because it is so beautiful and I am loathe to share it with others!

The peace and tranquility of the wonderful house with the only interruption of the jingling of the sheep was really appreciated after our busy jobs. We could not get over the the view. It felt as if we were staying in an oil painting with the backdrop of the mountains constantly changing the view and the weather throughout our stay.
Every meal was spent al fresco under the spacious and shady canopy. We had lots of use from the lovely pool, cooling off after a long walk from the house. Walks in the mountains provided us with stunning views in the local ski resort, which must be fabulous in the snow. The nearby market at Sarnano provided us with lovely fried fish, pancetta and lots of fresh vegetables along with amusing translation challenges with the stall holders. Ascoli Piceno, Marcerata, Porto San Georgio, Fiastra Lake/village provided us with interesting days out too. We would love to visit again sometime and hope to return to Il Vigneto soon.
